Cellular phone services suspended in karachi & Quetta


KARACHI: Cellular phone services in Karachi and Quetta were suspended on the orders of the federal interior ministry, Geo News reported on Friday.


The services would remain suspended until 7.00 pm today in light of security concerns on the first day of Muharram.

Motorcycle riding also banned in Quetta and Karachi, however, Chief Justice Sindh High Court Mushir Alam took action against the Interior Minister Rehman Malik’s decision and resorted motorcycle riding in Karachi. But in Quetta, motorcycle riding still remained banned, police and Frontier Corps (FC) arrested several violators of the ban.

Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Friday announced to suspend mobile phone services in Karachi and Quetta for security purpose adding there was a security threat on Friday, the 1st of Muharram ul Haram .
