According to police, the explosion occurred near Sheesh Mahal bus stop in Mohabbat Nagar area of Malir City. Due to the blast, one man was killed and four others sustained injuries while one injured is said to be in critical condition, Deputy Director of Jinnah Hospital told.
Witnesses and police sources told that the blast occurred in a block manufacturing area.
Rescue teams and police reached the spot while the injured were shifted to nearby hospital for treatment.
Security forces cordoned off the area and started investigation meanwhile the bomb disposal squad was also called in to scrutinize the area.
