KARACHI: The blaze that engulfed the eighth floor of the State Life building on Wednesday morning has been tamed by firefighters while a man died after jumping from the 8th floor of the building.
According to sources, a fire broke out at the eighth floor of the 15-storey State Life building situated near Zainab Market in Saddar on Wednesday. Fire extinguishing vehicles reached the site soon after getting the information.
According to sources, in a desperate attempt a man jumped out of the window to save his life. He was rushed to the hospital for treatment but could not survive.
Chief Fire Officer Ehtashamuddin, while talking to the media, said several people were pulled out from the building and any major loss was prevented with the cooperation of different departments.
The building had a fire fighting system that helped in taming the blaze, he said.
