Twin blasts in Orangi Town karachi: one dead, several hurt

KARACHI: One person has been killed and several others wounded in twin bomb blasts near an Imambargah in Orangi Town number 5.

The second blast, which appears to have been caused by a planted devise, occurred at the same spot minutes after the first explosion left one dead and seven others injured.

Media men including a Geo News cameraman have been injured in the second blast besides mourners present there to attend a congregation at the Imambargah and security personnel present on the blast site.

DIG West, Javed Odho talking to Geo News after the first blast said that the explosives were planted in a motorcycle that blew up with a loud blast. He put the toll at one and said: "The dead body could be of a suicide bomber".

Odho said the target of the attack could have been the Imambargah but the motorcycle collided with a rikshaw before reaching the target.

The DIG added that several people were injured, some seriously, after being hit by shrapnel.

Ambulances have whisked away the dead and injured to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, sources said.

The blast has damaged several shops outside the Imambargah where members of the forensic team are collecting evidence.
