Amir fights for future

AMIR KHAN insists he is not damaged goods as he attempts to get his career back on track in Los Angeles.

The former WBA light welterweight champ faces unbeaten Carlos Molina at LA’s Barclays Centre on December 15, when a defeat could put Khan’s boxing future in doubt.

The Olympic glamour boy has been beaten three times now — knocked out by Briedis Prescott and Danny Garcia and controversially beaten on points by Lamont Peterson.

To halt the slide, Khan has ditched trainer Freddie Roach for Virgil Hunter, seen as one of the game’s best defensive coaches.

But the fallen champ is brutally honest when assessing the chance of suffering another massive setback against Molina.

Bolton-based Khan said: “Molina has probably looked at my last fight and believes I’m damaged goods and that my confidence is damaged after losing.

“But that’s not the way it is. If I want to be the best in the world again I have to get through against Molina.”

Khan became a crowd pleaser with his attacking style but has paid for getting dragged into slugfests.

He has changed his approach after listening to Hunter’s methods and said: “You will see a different Amir Khan, a better Amir Khan.

“I’ll be more focused and more thoughtful about picking the right shots at the right time.”
