It’s not going to be a ‘happy’ birthday for Salman Khan after all.
His birthday celebration will be spoiled after being summoned to appear in the Mumbai court on his birthday, December 27, for a hearing in the infamous hit-and-run case of 2002.
According to the Indian media, a social worker named “Santosh Daundkar had filed an application to the magistrate court in Mumbai alleging that false evidence was submitted to protect the actor and delay the case”.
In 2002, Salman was allegedly driving a Toyota Land Cruiser, which crashed into a bakery in the Mumbai suburb, killing one and injuring four others.
The men were reportedly sleeping on the pavement near the bakery.
The social activist claims that justice has been delayed because the actor’s star powers while other hit-and-run cases have been processed fast.
Salman has been charged with rash and negligent driving causing injuries.
Just days later, another court has ordered Salman to appear in connection with his role in the infamous Black Buck poaching case.
The Jodhpur court hearing comes 14 years since the incident actually occurred.
Salman will have to head to Jodhpur, India on February 4.
He has been charged with illegal possession of arms and causing harm to wildlife.
In this case, he won’t be alone. Actors Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre, Nilam, Dushyant Singh and Dinesh Gawre, are also charged with causing harm to wildlife.
In 1998, the actors reportedly poached two Black Bucks, which are endangered species, near a village in Jodhpur while they were filming for the movie ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’.
The last time the accused had appeared for a hearing in the case was way back in 2006.
Apart from these two cases, Salman also has been convicted and sentenced in two separate cases of poaching, one with two Chinkaras and a Black Buck in the same year. The appeal in both cases is still pending in the high court.
The actor, who is known to host big birthday bashes, had earlier claimed, much before these legal updates, that he’s planning a quiet birthday at his Mumbai home with his parents.
The only sliver of hope remains his movie ‘Dabangg 2’, which releases on December 21.
It could possibly be his only celebration this year.
Despite winning so much adulation and success for his movies, Salman’s legal mess still remains unresolved.
